This morning the top brass from local manufacturers as well as a contingent of SA's motoring press attended a breakfast at the Inanda Club in Sandton, for the reveal of the finalists for the 2015 South African Guild of Motoring Journalists / Wesbank Car of the Year competition. The long list of qualifying cars was chopped down the other day to a smaller list of semi-finalists, and that list has now been refined into a list of 11 cars, each a winner in it's own respective segment, that will compete for top honours in this presigious competition. I don't envy the judges on this one, the cars are so varied and each one is great at what it's made for. My favourites were picked, so I can happily dish out a few "I told you so" lines now - the Subaru WRX and the Renault Duster are who I'm rooting for.
The hardcore testing of the cars will take place from now until March when the winner will be announced. I'll report back from the gala dinner. Well done to all the finalists!
The finalists, in alphabetical order, are:
Audi A3 Sedan 1.4T SE S Tronic
Bmw M4 Coupe Auto
Citroën C4 Picasso E-HDi 115 Intensive
Honda Accord 3.5 V6 Exclusive
Lexus ES 250 EX

Nissan Qashqai 1.6DCi Acenta Auto
Porsche Macan S Diesel
Renault Duster 1.5DCi Dynamique 4wd

I missed the Citroen - it was gone by the time I was there to get a pic of it, so thanks to Google, here's one...
