The crew at Hard Rock Cafe Johannesburg know just how to throw a party. There doesn't need to be an excuse for one either, but it always helps of course. This past weekend the excuse was to celebrate St Paddy's day and besides have an Irish-themed band playing live, they set up a bit of a muscle car display in front of the cafe to attract attention. It worked, loads of people made their way over to the cars - camera phones in hand.
As soon as I heard what was happening at Hard Rock Cafe I made sure to have my camera charged and that I had some spare time to make my way through and get some shots. Of course, with the majority of the cars coming out of the Creative Rides stable it was an added bonus because having them setup in the sunlight to show off the brilliant paintwork isn't something that happens too often. These guys source, restore or completely rebuild some of the coolest American muscle you'll lay your eyes on in SA. Most of the cars in these pics are actually up for grabs, it all depends on how many zeros you can fit onto a cheque before it turns to rubber.
I spent about an hour getting pics in the hot, hot sun but luckily Nate from Hard Rock Cafe spotted me cooking and hooked me up with an ice cold draught to make sure I survived. Muscle cars, beer and good music - that's a pretty good way to spend a Saturday arvie - If I didn't have another event booked I might have just stayed to see what the cars would look like in the moonlight... I hope you enjoy the pics...
