Many of you may know me as Krutch thanks to an extended walkabout on a pair of crutches after shattering a few bones when I tried, quite unsuccessfully, to drive through a street light at high speed. Luckily the passion for fast cars was already ingrained in me thanks to a childhood in Kempton Park, and so the love for all things automobile continued, scars and all. I have an absolute passion for photography, just like when Neo started to see the Matrix, I see life according to the two-thirds rule through a viewfinder. I'm completely self taught and have an eye for all things automotive but I often extend my sights to include other passions, such as animals. I'm also unable to attend an event of any kind without trying to document it in pictures, so event photography is also high on my list of things that make me tick.
While they do say a picture is worth a thousand words, most clients actually do want a thousand words accompanying their pictures, and I am more than capable of helping out. For nearly fifteen years I was the editor and main feature writer of SA's largest lifestyle motoring magazine, Speed & Sound. My stint at the magazine exposed me to many different lifestyle events and people, both locally and internationally, which means I now have an invaluable contact list. Dealing with so many varied people and personalities means I've had to make sure I can chop and change my writing style to fit in just about anywhere, from my usual colloquial style right through to the serious corporate stuff. My work can be found in various local publications and is also strewn across the internet on blogs and in online magazines.
My photography & journalism skills (as well as being an all round nice guy) have allowed me to attend many exclusive events and I've been lucky enough to capture great images of SA’s hottest bands, scariest EFC fighters, most amazing motoring events, the coolest tattoo artists and also extreme athletes. I'm a member of the South African Guild of Motoring Journalists which allows me to cover many great motoring events and new car launches in South Africa and abroad.
You'll quickly pick up that I have a few tattoos, this ties in with all the extreme lifestyle things I'm part of or I attend. After all, it's not called a lifestyle for nothing. I own and run a website dedicated to the local tattoo industry called Pricked In SA and it aims to steer people to use only the best tattoo artists and shops in the country. This is yet another world that I have a passion for.
I'm lucky enough to be sponsored by some of South Africa's favourite name brands, not to mention being sponsored by some of the best tattoo artists in the game. I wear and endorse these brands and tattoos with pride.
I'm also available to travel worldwide to cover events.
